Responsible tourism is the first leg of the African Pot.

Every visit to Nkwichi Lodge contributes to the development and conservation of this remote, wilderness area and helps promote the well-being of the local Nyanja people.

Nkwichi Lodge has a low environmental impact. It was built using local material, like stone, bamboo and thatching grass. It runs on solar power and uses its waste for compost and paper-making at the nearby farm.

The opportunity to visit the local communities and see the conservation and development work in action is available to all visitors to the Lodge.

A levy for every night spent at Nkwichi used to go towards the Manda Wilderness Community Trust to help fund its community projects and promote the long-term development of the local community. This is temporarily on hold, though donations towards community projects are always welcome.
